But they were probably gateway series for a huge number of people who later went on to discover and enjoy even more anime.

And sorry, as a person who read Dragonball in the early 30's and still see its influence in so many aspects of pop culture, I can't take your casual write-off. It was and is still iconic.

You first.

If you are the anon I was replying to then you are the one asserting that DBZ has echoes in other media. Expand, clarify, and cite examples.

Were you ever going to expand upon the claim that DBZ ghettoized anime for adult fans? Because I think the claim that it was an influential series is at least as defensible as that.

You are the one asserting that it hasn't, presumably you have some evidence to back up that argument or you are just agreeing to it by default. Especially since you were so bold in stating it influenced other, more mainstream and more adult, works. Now, which works and in which ways?

it influenced other, more mainstream and more adult, works

Yeah no, now you're putting words in my mouth (honestly, my actual comment is right there) and deflecting responsibility, signs of a keyboard warrior detected. I'm checking out of this for my own sanity.

Your concession of the point is duly noted. DBZ not an influencer of other works, just a show that contributes to the image of anime as a medium for little kids.
