Cuz they're hot. Duh! lol I ship it. I don't care. It's series based on a bodice-ripper; I'm not expecting long-term development of romance. And I think it was done alright considering.

To be fair, Outlander is more historical with a fantasy twist than straight up bodice ripper* and the series is 8 books long with another in the works, not including novellas and short stories. It definitely is "long-term development of romance".

* Actual bodice rippers have way less history, way more sex, and they're not going to be 600+ pages long.

True. Though I haven't read the books, it seems season 1 of the show covers the first book, right? I figure since it seems to be more about the history and time travel aspects than the couple themselves (though still about them), the author probably just did the relationship building in the first book to have that established for the rest. Haven't read the books so I can't speak with certainty; just seems that way from the way the show seems set up. "We've gotten past all the hearts-in-eyes sex all the time. Now let's get down to the dark and dramatic stuff.' I actually like it.
