Can't sleep.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-04 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I got a new job last week, very suddenly, and my first day is tomorrow. All I can think of is how I'll oversleep or how the bus will be to late or that I'll slip and break something on my way to work. At least I've prepared clothes for the day.

The time is currently 22:30 and I need to get out of bed at 05:00.

Any other insomniacs here?

Oh man, I feel you. Worrying about the next day is probably #2 on my list of things that keep me up at night (the first being physical discomfort). Sometimes I get so anxious that I get out of bed several times to make sure I've set my alarms, even though I know I set them. It's hard to turn off your brain and relax in that state. I find that dreaming up fic scenarios usually helps me to switch off.

Oh, I'm with you regarding the alarms! I'll probably set a few more and I'll buy a new alarm clock tomorrow after work, as my cellphone is on it's last legs as far as battery is concerned.

I will try dreaming up scenarios. Thank you.

I feel you. I felt exactly the same the last few times I faced a first day or a big appointment. All I can say is, no matter how stressed I was and how little and poorly I slept each time, I was actually so nervous as I woke up before the alarm went off and found it impossible to go back to sleep. So I never was late. I hope it's the same for you and you won't have trouble functionning tomorrow on little sleep?
(And it's 22:35 here, we're in the same timezone!)

It's a fifty/fifty chance that I'll wake up earlier. I just hope I can resist the temptation of faffing about on the internet and waste all the time I had to get ready.

( You are? I'm in Sweden, where are you?)

Yup. It goes up and down, but it has been pretty bad the past couple of weeks. The daily headaches have not helped, nor has the emotional stuff I've been dealing with. I couldn't even nap today even though I desperately need to sleep.

Thanks. Listening to some calming music on Youtube with my light off and a heating pad on my head. Starting to feel a bit better, so maybe I will be able to sleep soon.

ASMR puts me to sleep, but it eats up my internet plan on my cellphone. And I keep waking up around 02:00-02:30 anyway and then have to fall asleep again.

I hope you'll feel even better soon.

I saw this earlier in the night and thought about posting my troubles with insomnia, but was like 'Nah'.

It's currently half-past midnight and I woke up after only sleeping for 2 hours. I can't go back to sleep. I never can, if I wake up in the middle of the night. Half the time I will sleep through the night but wake up just as sleepy anyway, but I'd still prefer sleeping through the night. Sunlight helps me to keep awake and actually do things, whereas if I'm awake at night, I'm usually too tired to do anything x-x

Waking up in the middle of the night is the worst! And then because I can't sleep, I faff about on the internet instead of trying to sleep again and suddenly it's one hour 'til 'get out of bed' time.
