It's totally worth it and highly encourage this! I had gone multiple times as a kid but when I was in my 20s, I went with a friend who had been once when he was too small to remember it. He wasn't sure about it (I was the one who really wanted to go and he just went along with it) but by the end of the day he was soooooo happy.

My advice is to do it on a weekday in the off season so that you can avoid as much of the crowds as possible and enjoy every last bit.
