I'd forgotten how cool the opening of FF7 was. It's one thing I'm really hoping for the remake - there are so many scenes that will be so powerful with good graphics.
Not that I didn't appreciate it with the old ones - and I do find them charming. But the scenes where Cloud is struggling with his memories will look so good in fancy (now please let them not fuck it up please).

I replayed FF7 last year and honestly the whole game is SO GOOD, even when you compare it to modern rpgs. I know there's a lot of hype backlash about it, but there's a reason so many considered it the greatest game ever made for so many years after it came out.

I'm seriously hoping all the crazy stuff stays intact and they don't water it down with a bunch of Compilation crap. There's a lot of stuff I'd forgotten about the game, like when Cloud dissociates and knocks out Aeris, or when the party finally learns the truth about Sephiroth/Jenova in the crater. That's stuff that would be so intense and emotional with upgraded graphics.

I actually played it for the first time a year and a half ago, and I loved it. It's so wacky, but in such a good way, I was pretty bummed that I'd been spoiled for stuff before I started, because I wish I could have played through all the mindfuckery without knowing it was coming. And I agree with you 100% - I hope they leave the Compilation garbage out.
Cloud's personality is consistently butchered in EVERYTHING. It's like nobody has a clue how to write the guy. People keep forgetting all his little sassy moments and such. (I only forgive AC a little because the designs are so cool and I love the Fusion Sword and Cloud's bike).

Hell, I hope they keep it some kind of turn-based, though I know there's a slim chance of that. I just really like the amount of control it gives you, and playing around with materia combos and such.
