I thought I'd have a lot of ships from this, but they really uglified MPG and I just can't.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Ugly? Sis, come on, this is the best MPG has looked in years.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
No way no way. He's all bulky and the beard doesn't suit him.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
The beard grew on me. I normally hate beards, but I'm into it.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
He gained a lot of weight for the role, but it's all muscle.

And? Just because it's muscle, doesn't mean it looks good.

Are you Ugly Anon?

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
No.

Catcher thighs like that make me miss having Chris Iannetta on my favorite team, his were incredibly hot. The pretty blue eyes and the .350 OBP were also nice. (Of course if it's catcher butts you're after instead, you want either other-former-Angel Hank Conger or the fabulous Anthony Recker.)

comments like these are the reason i keep coming here ;)

I here for ALL your baseball player objectifying needs, my good anon.

I'm actually amused by all the comments in various threads about Pitch who know MPG from Saved by the Bell and how "different" he looks to them, when this is actually the first thing I've ever really watched him in so I have next to no standard for comparison. To me, they made him look like a cross between Derek Norris (was the Padres' actual catcher until last week) and Mike Napoli (catcher turned first-baseman; was one of the first in this generation on the big beard trend), although of course his character's career is more Jason Varitek + Joe Mauer.

Whoa, that's Mark-Paul Gosselaar?

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. He looks utterly unlike himself.

I was very prepared to NOTP them, and yet they won me over... While I'd love it if they just stayed amazing close friends, I find I'm okay with it as long as nothing more happens until Mike's no longer playing.

But I also love battery ships in general (Diamond no Ace is great for that), so this speaks to me.

You're not alone, OP. I ship Bawson, but I've seen plenty of people who are squicked by the 13-year age difference, the mentor-mentee relationship, or don't see the chemistry (although that opinion seems to have disappeared after the last episode). It's perfectly okay to have a NOTP.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Is it weird, that I think it's weird that other people get squicked by a 13 year age difference? They're both adults. It's really not that much. It's not like he's old enough to be her father. Like I don't get why this is a big deal to people.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
OP

I think the thing that bothers me the most is that the mentor relationship they have is a perfectly fine dynamic on its own and literally needs zero romance to make it work.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't need it no.

But I actually do think it adds a super interesting level to the story. The show is about her being the first woman in the MLB. So what happens when you do like a teammate. Then you got all the this extra pressure on you because you because if you act like a normal person and pursue it you'll have all the naysayers using it as an excuse to be like 'this is why you can't put women and men together.' And we watch Mike kind of understand this which is why he's always trying (and failing) to distance himself. It's another layer of double standards, and loneliness for Ginny.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Because people associate it with maturity levels, which they associate with power levels, in a way that squicks them

Nothing wrong with being squicked by it, just like there's nothing wrong with being into it

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
The show has been teasing people with them, is it really unexpected that a lot of people ship it?
