Except there are grown women who are flat chested.

+100. Yeesh, OP.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
There are also women with facial hair. Doesn't mean people are wrong to associate beards with men.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
But women with beards still don't automatically look like men, even if beards are considered a male thing. They look like women with beards, the same way being flat chested alone does not make you look like a child. Context clues.

The actress in question is petite, with a very youthful face. I'm not surprised that this combined with a flat chest reads as prepubescent to someone. Much in the same way as if a woman had a tall, broad shouldered frame would remind someone of a man if she also had a full beard.

I'll give you that she has a young-ish face (though she is in her early to mid 20s and imo her face matches that pretty close) but she is also 5'7'' according to google. I would give you her maybe looking like an older teen, but not a prepubescent child.

Quite. She's clearly not prepubescent.

This. Grown women with flat chests do not look like children. Women who shave do not like like children. I hate it when women are told they look like children because they don't look a certain way.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
If I saw that woman on the street, I would think she is a tall child. Or a guy with feminine facial features.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
if you saw a dude on the street with man boobs would you ttly think he was a woman?

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
If he also had curvy hips, a feminine face, and was rocking a pixie bob? Maybe.

Including, you know, the actress in the picture. (She is currently 24.)

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, she's really hot.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know this fandom but this lady definitely doesn't look prepubescent.

She looks like an adult to me.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
as someone who just finished season 2 last night, I hope Demelza gets away from that piece of shit. Of course she won't, but still, fuck Ross.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
There are a lot of things that make a woman look like a woman and a child look like a child, having a flat chest alone does not make someone look prepubescent.

Just from this photo she looks like an adult woman to me.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
She don't look anything like a kid to me.

And surprise surprise, boobs are not what makes someone a woman.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for pointing that out!

Also surprised no one has pointed out how disgusting OP is for equating 'flatchestedness' with adolescence.

Did you know, OP that the majority of actresses in hollywood are B cup or even A cup? It happens if you're really thin, for most women (unless you have invasive surgery).

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, because breasts are largely made up of fat, so women who don't have a ton of fat generally don't have naturally huge boobs. It's the same reason a lot of female athletes have small breasts.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-08 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Her boobs are fine for an adult. Stop body-shaming.

That said, the age where she starts working isn't weird. My gran started working as a maid in a castle when she was twelve, and that was already the early 1900s.

I think she has adult proportions, Children have big heads for their bodies, proportionally, and big eyes for their faces.

She looks very youthful in this picture, but many actresses do. IDK. I'm all for more body variety in actresses, and also don't like sexualizing minors. A lot depends on the context. Just having a flat chest doesn't make her child-like if other things don't make her childlike (age, mental capability, etc). And it sounds like she's of age irl so don't worry too much!

One thing that really grosses me out is how very young the women in advertisements for mom products often look these days. There's been one going around in magazines with a woman with two or three small kids "making traditions" with her coffee break, lol, and she looks about sixteen. It's just icky. How old did she have those children??????

I know I'm overthinking some of this but it does happen a lot. Underage models (with no child labor law protections for some reason?), and even the models on my mother's "Christian" romance novels often look underage. I know what it's like to be youthful looking...but it crosses the creepy line for me when models on a certain line of books always seem to look like they're barely sixteen (and sometimes these women are supposed to represent widowed mothers, 'old maids' etc).

So on the one hand, as a human who has looked younger than I am for most of my life, that can be old (having age underestimated, treated like a child etc). On the other hand, as a concerned human I don't like seeing underage girls depicted as the new norm, which does happen.
