[Fire Emblem Fates // Leo & Takumi]
Transcript by OP
So now I'm like 20,000+ words into an angst-ridden, character-driven giant fic that I actually really love and that's a ton of fun to write. Which is great!
The thing is, though, I would really love to show this to someone or talk about it with someone, but I've made a rule for myself ages ago that I would never post WIPs again. I've been through it, and while I finished my share of multi-chaptered fic, I also sometimes did not, and I don't like letting people down and I always feel bad getting requests to finish this or that fic after I ran out of steam for them.
So I only post things when they're complete, even if they're like 50,000 words or longer.
But this fic is nowhere near finished, and I won't have time to write for the next two months due to work, so... I know it'll take forever until I get to show anybody this thing I'm really excited about.
I can't even show it to my fandom/fic writing friends, because I'm new to Fire Emblem and none of them are into it.
Not a huge problem, obviously, but it's a weird mix of fun and really really annoying.

But like you, I'm not in the fandom, don't know anybody in it, and I didn't want to post it unfinished - but I did want feedback. So I just cold-called people in the fandom, asking if somebody wants to be my beta, and ended up actually finding somebody on ffnet to be a sounding board and give me comments and squees.
Maybe try something like that? That way you can have your cake and eat it too.
