Intense, fastidious professional closeness that goes hand-in-hand with intense personal closeness; mentor-student relationships that become amazing friendships or more. Can be shippy or not shippy.

Which is why I brought up my penchant for pitcher/catcher ships on secret 2-- Ginny/Mike, or Sawamura/Chris hit exactly that. But other times I don't ship that dynamic at all, just like the friendship- Don and Peggy on Mad Men, for instance.

Do you ship John C Reilly and Kevin Costner in For Love Of The Game

Also, Tim Robbins and Kevin Costner in Bull Durham

I've actually never seen For Love of the Game.

And while I can see Nuke/Crash, I would only like it platonic like Don and Peggy. Very good example of the mentor relationship though!

For Love Of The Game is basically half of a pretty decent baseball flick, half of a mediocre romcom. Luckily you can mostly skip the romcom scenes and not miss much

Also Vin Scully is the announcer of the baseball game part, which is always nice, even if it's a game between the Tigers and Yankees

Haha, Vinny/Baseball is my true OTP! He used to do some national tv broadcasts, especially all star games and playoff series, so that's not too unlikely.

YESSS. I love it "shippy* but never consummated in canon" and the canon ends with them in a circumstance where they're still possible to ship. (You know what I mean? Like, no one has died, no one is now married to someone else, no one has deeply betrayed the other, etc.)

E: *"Shippy" as in fans can ship them, and they are clearly very dear to each other in canon, but they don't seriously flirt or anything. Like Sherlock/Joan Watson -- I love how Elementary handles them, wouldn't change a thing, but I still ship them in fantasy.

Don/Peggy & Jack/Liz are my jam! I think you really perfectly summed up my two OTPs in your first part there! :)
