I wasn't that impressed either, honestly, for the reasons you mentioned. (Although I actually thought the CGI was okay, but I'm also not exactly a movie buff, so I often don't always notice things like that.) I liked it for Queenie and Jacob, really, and for the idea. I liked the idea very much, actually. They just didn't execute it as well as they might have otherwise. Really, it felt like a setup for the upcoming movies.

I think Newt's character was supposed to talk like that. He relates better to animals than people, basically.

I think I had the misfortune to watch a non-3D version whee the picture was also kind of blurry, so that might have had something to do with it as well.
I think it had a lot of potential but the pacing/balancing of the different plots was way off.

I thought it was mainly for the role because I made sense, but I sometimes have troubles understanding people who mumble half of their sentences so for me, it was a bit too much.

AYRT - Yeah, same. I have hearing problems, so I probably didn't even hear a lot of his dialogue properly.

I'm not an English native speaker and while I have little to no problem understanding English in general, if it gets too muffled AND this is paired with an accent I'm not yet used to, it can be a bit of a strain to understand everything.
