I'm glad Gaga's following seems to have died down considerably.

I'm still waiting for the rest of the Kardashians to go and also Taylor Swift.

Justin Beiber. One of those people who was either adored or loathed. I don't like any of his music, but the rabid hate was as irritating as the rabid love. And calling him a girl bothered me a lot.

Stephenie Meyer. Even though I was totally in the hatedom at the time. But I'm also embarrassed about the fact that I was as obsessed with hating Twilight as Twilight fans were with loving it.

I like that you admit your extremeness. So often it seeems like people act like asses, grow out of it but then just act like they were never asses in the first place.

I know this girl who still brags from time to time how she and a friend went to see some of the movies at the theatre just to loudly complain about how bad and stupid the movies are all throughout. Just to annoy the ~dumb fans~.
And while I never liked either the books or the movies, all I keep thinking about this is was "Well you are kind of the dumb one because not only are you a fucking asshole trying to ruin other people's fun, you also spend a lot of money on expensive movie tickets which in turn supports both the author and the people who made the movie."

AYRT - Not sure you'll see this, late response.

Anyway, yeah, I think that's awful. Even in my hatedom days I always stopped short of that shit - because really, people are allowed to like things I don't. I was really into Harry Potter, and if someone had done that when I was at one of the movies, it would've really upset me because I looked forward to them, damn it. (It was bad enough when I took a non-fan friend to one and she spent the whole time asking me what was going on, but at least that was totally innocent.)

I'm generally baffled how much time and energy (and money, sometimes) people spend on things they hate...
The girl I was talking about was a special case as well, because she's a girl scout and incredibly proud about all her helpful and socially just behaviour. She makes a big deal about being so very social and nice. And then she goes to spoil people's enjoyment of a movie, potentially even one they had to save up their money for if they're not particularly rich.

AYRT - Way I see it, we all had something we were assholes about. It's easy to get involved with something and not realize where you've gone with it.

Bloody agreed. Now I just kind of give my opinion that "Twilight isn't really my thing and I don't like how it portrays a romantic relationship but if it's your cuppa tea I don't mind that you enjoy it."

I never liked it and would talk at length about how I tried to read Twilight but gave up half way through the first book - bragging at how I didn't have the attention span for it. I'm sure I was a little bit insufferable, but I never went the raging feminist-on-a-podium approach to it. I feel the same about 50 Shades of Gray - if people like it, good for fucking them, it's not like I don't read shameless porn, too. Live and let read dollar romance novels, stop shaming women who like that stuff, etc.

Ms Jenner made the mistake, not of coming out as trans, but of coming out as a republican.

It's kinda not possible to talk about her now without disrupting some popular narritives, so... Ooops, there goes that particular trans representation.

My opinion on why no-one talks about Ms Jenner anymore?

Right leaning media wont give her airtime because "Ew, Trans" and left leaning media wont give her airtime because "Ew, Republican"
