You can always express disagreement but when you express disagreement you can't say "No one should hear/read/see this ever" because then you are supporting censorship.

That being said, where and how the censorship occurs is also something to be considered, freedom of speech in the United States is mainly about not letting the government stop you from expressing your ideas, but people/businesses on a more personal level absolutely can and do censor.

I've never said anything like "no one should hear/read/see this ever." Usually what happens is something like this:

Them - expresses opinion
Me - I disagree, blah blah other opinion
Them - blah, blah their opinion
Me - blah, my opinion
Them - Oh, so I guess I have to think [my opinion]. We aren't allowed to have our own opinions anymore... [goes off ranting about how freedom of speech is dead and acts like I forced him to pretend to share my opinion]

It's really hard to say how they would come to the conclusion that you are censoring them without knowing the specifics of the conversation, but it could just be an over reaction on their part.

I just had a thought that this sort of situation is a bit like what my Mum says about when my Dad gets angry. They know your opinion is objectively better/more correct, but they don't want to admit it, or give up their own stance.
