Re: What movie is actually better than the source material?

The psycho things being idiotic has an excuse in that they're psycho, kind of.

Everything else like hurp durp my 'friend' is giving my girlfriend oral sex right in front of me, maybe she's cheating on me with him?? is like "are you for real an idiot, how are you this dumb?" I'm glad they didn't stick to his book personality or it'd have been completely unbelievable that anybody buys that he's not severely mentally challenged.

It didn't come off as moronic to me, but rather that the world is so alien to him that he almost can't relate at all. He's still very good at mimicking, so that's how he gets by.

It comes off as moronic because he's--in theory--good at mimicking by picking up on patterns and what they mean or are supposed to mean to everyone else but then randomly misses them whenever the author pleases. For example the sociopath part might not care that his girlfriend is cheating on him right in front of his face because he wouldn't understand what the point is or what a romantic relationship is supposed to be, but would care that he is being cheated on at all because he'd know that's a bad pattern that makes him look bad. It's inconsistent throughout and he ends up being an idiot to me.
