(Anonymous) 2016-12-11 10:39 am (UTC)(link)The bit where Yuri's first programme is about a love-em-and-leave-em romance, and his second, full of ruminations that this can't last, he'll have to retire soon, Victor won't stay forever, are a bit ominous to me.

As for the Yuri on Ice, the theme of it is his skating career, and his ruminations during it are--- kind of dependent on the episode and his mood during the scene. In episode nine for example, they're a little depressing because that's how he's feeling. But in episode seven, that's not the case, because he's feeling much better. Etc. The story of the Yuri on Ice program is itself unfinished though. In fact, we don't even know what things represent in it past the point in it where Victor says 'this part represents where I come in as coach'.
In my opinion that's because Yuuri isn't entirely sure where the story is going, which is why we won't see a perfect skate of it until the grand prix final when he believes he does. And I don't think that program is meant to have a sad ending, especially with the last jump being that quadruple flip, Victor's signature move, to finish it off.
