Aw. As someone who grew up on the original (absolutely couldn't miss it!), I thoroughly enjoyed the new series. There are some nods to the original, but overall, in my opinion, it's really its own series. Of course, I stay far, far away from fandom, and happily ship my faves in the safety and security of my own mind.
