My boss lets us listen to music and such on our phones at work (so we don't go insane). One of my co-workers (TC) has been using headphones with a mic to make phone calls while on the job (a big no no). She has been doing this for months. This has been mentioned to our boss several times but he always says he can't do anything unless he catches her.

Our boss's wife (who helps out at work) mentioned that she had noticed TC acting slower and such while "singing to herself". Another co-worker told her what was up and how she has mentioned it to boss before. And that no one else has tried because they don't want EVERYONE to lose their music privileges because of this asshole.

Boss's Wife was all, "Yeah, that is what would end up happening."

So NOW I am worried we will all lose phone privileges because of this bitch who can't follow rules. And if announces that we can't use phones without saying WHY, I have no problem calling her out in front of everyone. I'm not her friend, I am just a friendly co-worker.

I would call her out too, even if it's not the most professional option. That shit makes me so mad.

Any way you could go up to boss ahead of time and say "look. can you please do something about this? being able to listen to music is really important to me to be able to concentrate and keep up good morale; I don't want to lose that privilege because others are abusing it."

(that said, I absolutely hate it when people make a policy of punishing the group for the actions of one or a few. "we're taking away your privilege because one person abused them" is such bullshit and really unfair...)

I can try again. I will literally buy a cheap phone with no SIM card rather than give up listening to music.
