It's because "omg sports and loving them shows an appreciation for strength and endurance and that's MANLY and GOOD" while sitting at a computer "is a total waste of time in the end showing weakness which is BAD." I think. I don't know, I never understood the fun of watching other people play games. Unless it's ice hockey. And that's partially thanks to the fights that break out over nothing.
