Situation A: A game's creator makes a trailer for purportedly the last game in the series that shows the beloved main character, tired and terribly aged, putting a gun in his mouth, to the accompaniment of haunting music and a voiceover about his "final mission."

Situation b: Hideo Kojima makes a trailer for purportedly the last game in the series that shows the beloved main character, tired and terribly aged, putting a gun in his mouth to the accompaniment of haunting music and voiceover about his "final mission."

This is the guy who has said straightout in interviews that he hates giving away anything, but you have to have something to show, so he deliberately makes the trailers as misleading as possible.

Personally, I think that's great, since I hate having the plot revealed until I get to experience it firsthand. I wish more people would do it. It would drive people crazy, and be hilarious.

Anyway, just remember the series we're dealing with. Considering the above, Snake ending up dead is actually less likely than him regenerating, or living on through somebody's spleen or turning into a cyborg or something. So cheer up!

42. I don't know if it's just that I'm tired, but something about 'I love men, but they're not attractive when they're not wearing pants' strikes me as hilarious.

47. It seems strange that sports fans and geeks are not natural allies. They're both primarily about caring about something that isn't exactly real life.

53. So, anybody else find these secrets directed to a specific 'you' kind of annoying? This one at least is pretty general, and not, "When I told you 'purple monkey dishwasher,' I REALLY MEANT 'evaporate soylent hand grenade' . But still.

(Protip: if, when the entire point is that no one knows who the writer and the addressee are, it only makes a lick of sense to one or the other, you're doing it wrong.)

42. Yeah, no, you're not the only one. I was like, "wait, wut?" I suppose the OP could love men in a PLATONIC way, as in liking the way they act, but then that'd be making a SWEEPING GENERALIZATION ABOUT ALL MEN and GOD FORBID THAT HAPPEN, OH NOES. I mean really, real men who are like that in bed--and plenty of them--EXIST, so isn't just about personal preference?

It's because "omg sports and loving them shows an appreciation for strength and endurance and that's MANLY and GOOD" while sitting at a computer "is a total waste of time in the end showing weakness which is BAD." I think. I don't know, I never understood the fun of watching other people play games. Unless it's ice hockey. And that's partially thanks to the fights that break out over nothing.

I have to (cautiously) agree with the offing Snake thing. I was talking to my friend about it today strangely enough (who doesn't play the series, but is a good listener...); I can't see Hideo Kojima actually killing Snake. There are other ways to bring a closure to someones 'life' without killing them. =/

I hope to God that hes just misleading us, though. Everyone I've seen has 'come to terms' with the fact that he's gonna die, so having him survive would throw them off so badly (and cause massive wank, which is always great fun to watch).

Plus he's a psychological crutch for quite a lot of people, if Snake dies I can imagine seeing fanboi suicides happening left and right.

Part of me has been thinking about Snake faking his death and quietly living out in Florida in one of those old people homes so the government can't call upon him anymore. Part of me thinks its going to be a dream sequence due to all the post traumatic stress he's dealt with. Part of me wants him to shake Naomi like a British nanny and shout "why did you do this to me?!? FIX IT! NOW!" when he goes to save her.

I dunno, I like men but.. genitals don't ever strike me as 'hot', 'sexy', or really that pleasant in any way. I mean... I love men for their man personalities, not what's in their pants xD People look funny naked anyway.
