Oh. So that's what Youtube RW was about? Yeah, I still have no idea who they are but at the same time, I never really cared much about youtube and e-celebs in the first place. So don't feel bad, OP. You're not the only one out of the loop.

I was saying when this year's rewind came out that I only got about 6 references. I'm not as into YT trends and celebs as I used to be, and I do think it might be an age thing, though not necessarily in a getting old kind of way, just that more content is for the teenagers of now than the adults of now. Rewind '16 is to my sister what Rewind '13 was to me, and 3 years is a fairly long time in terms of memes on the Internet.

Also, I don't care for Stranger Things, but gosh did Dan and Phil look good this RW. I'm really happy Jacksfilms was on RW this year too, though I didn't even realise until I watched the YTers React episode haha

I'm pretty meme conscious and I watch a lot of youtube and I didn't recognize 60% of the people on there. The music sucked and it wasn't particularly funny or memorable in any way.

Why the fuck were Dan and Phil and Pewdiepie so prominent? Weren't they at the peak of their popularity years ago? Where is the new talent?

I'm mostly out of touch with Youtube celebrities. I mostly follow Pokemon LPers, know about a few of the most famous LPers through others (Markiplier) and that's it.

So I'm completely lost by the Rewind thing.

The only people I recognised were Dan/Phil and John Green.
