I feel like it was really hard not to be involved with ship wars in the Harry Potter fandom, unless you stuck with fanfiction.net and the smaller sites. I got pulled in a few times, even though I never really cared who shipped H/Hr versus R/Hr. (Although I had a pretty huge intolerance against Harry/Draco. Even then, so many of my friends shipped it that I didn't bother arguing.)

Harry Potter was my first internet fandom. I was young and I thought at the time there was actually such a thing as right and wrong shipping. So I was very invested in the ship wars (specifically I shipped Harry/Hermione). I was over the ship wars relatively quickly. By the time book 7 came out, I was over it and over both sides of the fandom (all sides really).
