Just getting stuck on one or two points is kinda more realistic imo, and what makes me think it could be real. Like, how many real friends have you given advice to but they get stuck on one or two points of it? I know that's happened to me.

Also, has anyone suggested your list of things that OP hasn't done? Cause its not unrealistic that someone would just assume they wouldn't work for this case (I don't know about independent welfare claims but my experience with social services or domestic violence services would make me think they wouldn't be helpful)

Not saying that there aren't inconsistencies (I too wondered about them being busted, the focus on trump rhetoric over the literally abusive parents, and I'm super hung up on why a nursing home of all things would be even brought up?), but regardless, at least these threads actually get comments, troll or not

Shit, I'm on welfare and in an abusive situation and I'm not suggesting the things I'm using because I'm not sure what exists where they are.

But I also know, from my own abusive situation, how much it fucks with your perception. It took me years to call it abuse, and I still defend my family at points and feel like I'm in the wrong or that other things are worse than what they do for me. With how sheltered their parents seem to be keeping them, I wouldn't doubt that the threat of a nursing home or institution could be brought up--because the parents know that their kid won't know the ins and outs of everything and would take them seriously.
