Re: Con Thread

The first con I ever went to was a Robotech and "Japanimation" (watch me date myself) convention back when I was in Junior High.

I've been going to LosCon (the Los Angeles area's annual all-purpose "gathering of the clans" irregularly for a long time. Twenty-some years (which still makes me a newbie, compared to a lot of people who've been going for 43 years.) I had my membership this year, but I was having a flare of a chronic health issue. If I'd had the money to drop on a room, it would've been better, because I would have been able to do what I could and then recover.

I've been going to Gallifrey One since it was in the Van Nuys Airtel Hotel. The past few years, though, it's filled up so fast (less than an hour) that I haven't been able to get tickets. The one time I took the day off so I could go to the site immediately, the traffic crashed the site.

For a few years we also had AgamemCon (a Babylon 5 convention.) I've done the day trip thing to WorldCon when it's been in town, and the same with NasFic. I've been to ConChord (filk convention).

Out of the area, I've been to BayCon (San Jose) and ConDor (San Diego). There was also a Star Trek convention I went to in Honolulu, but at the time I was stationed at Pearl Harbor, so it was local.

I'd love to go to WorldCon for the whole con, and I was hoping to go to Crossings Con this year in New York but I could NOT afford it. But in 2017 it's going to be in Long Beach!
