[Fandom: CSI/ Nick Stokes]

(Anonymous) 2016-12-16 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
I don't hate Nick Stokes but Greg is one of my all-time favorite characters and I was disappointed in a lot of his storylines and how he disappeared in the background in later seasons. I was REALLY disappointed in the finale, which sidelined all the characters we'd followed around for the last few seasons in favor of Gil/Sara, which the show had completely moved on from. Still bitter about that.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-16 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
They did that? Ugh. I hated Gil/Sara from the very beginning and never understood why it was a thing.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-16 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. They were finally divorced and I was actually liking the Sara character in the show proper, and then the finale hit and it spent two hours showing how COMPLETELY TERRIBLE the two are at communicating and WHY they would've divorced in the first place, only to have them end up sailing off together and for Sara to give up the promotion she'd been working for. I don't even like Sara but it was such a shitty ending. And the case itself was all about Lady Heather, and how anything she and Gil had wasn't really a thing. I shipped Heather/Gil and they completely burned her character.

They barely touched on Finn, having her die off screen. And DB was barely in it. It was so disappointing.

I quit watching way before this went down and I'm glad I did. Im not a die hard Gil/Lady Heather shipper, but at least they seemed to have chemistry.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-16 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm a hardcore Gil/Greg shipper but of the romantic relationships in the show, I thought Heather/Gil had way more chemistry and made way more sense. I always thought Sara was a terrible choice for Gil. She was so judgmental and he was so nonjudgmental. Heather just seemed to get him. And, I kept with the show to the bitter end. Sara improved so much as a character when she was no longer all about Gil. When they brought back Heather or Gil's mom or anything related to him, Sara was once again this really judgmental and uptight character. But when she got to have passions of her own, she was really interesting.

The worst is that there was no reason to go back to the Gil/Sara well for the finale. They had a bunch of new characters. The people who were diehard Gil/Sara shippers left when the characters got a divorce. Why rewards those fans when you had loyal fans who kept the show going for SEASONS after that? The Gil/Sara storyline had already run its course.

I hated Gil/Sara so much that while I was able to ignore them hinting at it, when they finally made it official, I stopped watching the show. I generally don't have an issue with pairings I don't ship becoming canon, but there was just something about the two of them that squicked me out so much that I couldn't watch them.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-16 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Are you me? I felt and did exactly the same.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-16 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Ditto

I was SUCH a Gil/Sara shipper back in the day, but holy fuck the writers dropped the ball WAY before they ever got together. First two seasons? Totally interesting--there was the mentor/mentee dynamic, but also the fact that he had brought her in as a friend to do him a favour, so it was never jsut straight boss/subordinate. But season three the entire show changed--it was suddenly VIVA LAS VEGAS and cracked out plots and every character was whiny and the very extreme of who they had been leading up to that point. I quit watching before they even got together, but I am nto at all surprised that the writers fucked the finale up with their crap.

I watched this show but was never in fandom. What did his fans do? It's hard to imagine his character having such a following, it's such a bland character.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-16 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
The fans of his character were just vaguely annoying and wouldn't stop talking about him even if the conversation wasn't about him. I remember the fans of his actor being SPN levels of crazy at points though, maybe that's what OP was meaning?

I’m extremely season without ended. It’s at finding a pic me angry. I just show without fans that bring him into every Greg conversation! I will never understand why he was so poular. Bitter we never got a him before CSI the point where for this secret made wanted to enjoy the him and his delulu.

It's like some kind of poetry.

OP

(Anonymous) 2016-12-16 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, I thought I'd given a transcript but I must have forgotten :( It was easier to read when it was smaller on my monitor, but I agree that it's turned out a bit headachey to read ^.^'''

Nick is my favorite character from the show.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-16 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
But I was never that into him and Greg together. I like Greg, but most of the fic seemed out of character for both of them. As to Nick's popularity, he was nice, mostly competent (though, like almost all of the characters, if the writers needed someone to be clueless, reckless, or thoughtless out of nowhere to serve the plot of the week, they would sometimes do it to him), and he was a woobie (held at gunpoint, almost blamed for murder, stalked and thrown out a window and held at gunpoint again, buried alive and bitten by ants, shot at while pursuing robber, shot (and somehow sort of blamed for a cop who died in that episode, even though the cop was doing his job and Nick was shot), almost blown up at the cop's funeral, almost bombed again, and probably a few other things I'm forgetting) - though other characters were woobies too.

Don't forget the child abuse backstory. (I'm pretty sure that was Nick, anyway. I was only a casual watcher of the show.)

It was. His babysitter abused him.
