What are your favorite Pokemon, of all generations?

I really warmed to the Ultra Beasts in general, especially Buzzwole and Xurkitree, which honestly surprised me given how strange their designs are. Silvally also ties with Salamence as my all-time favorite design-wise.

Meowth is number one, followed by Mew, Charmander, Rattata, and any other cat Pokemon. Bulbasaur is also way up there.

Ampharos is my favorite pokemon, it checks all the boxes of things I like in a pokemon -

- has 3 evolution forms (I love evolving pokemon so I tend to stay away from ones that don't evolve)
- is consistently cute in all forms
- thunder type (I love thunder and fire)
- has decent attacks

Ampharos can be kind of weak in more recent gens but I used the hell out of it in Pokemon black.

For the most recent game I really ended up liking Lurantis a lot, I like the design and my Lurantis was a pretty useful team member.

I also put all the starters on my team and I think Incineroar and Primarina were the most useful, Decidueye had too many weaknesses for my taste.

I thought a Pokemon icon would be appropriate for this thread - I have several icons saved for my fandoms, although my Thing one is my favorite.

(And I do think Xurkitree looks a little like the figure on the Thing poster...)

That's what made me think to comment, the similarity ;)

Fire pokemon from Gen One. Specifically Vulpix/Ninetails and Growlithe/Arcanine.

Also, Farfetch'd is awesome.

Mew! Still my favourite even if I like some of the others a lot, Houndoom would probably be a close second though.

The Ultra Beasts are GREAT. Xurkitree is awesome and you have good taste. Nihilego and Guzzlord are also really great.

I have a lot of favorite Pokémon, like, dozens. 0_____0 Raichu has been my all-time fav since I was a kid, but I hate Alolan Raichu and feel like everyone else likes Raichu for completely different reasons than I do so it's weird. Charizard is a solid second and maybe is my favorite in some ways.

I have Pokémon I love from every generation. The latest gen brought me Salazzle, who is my fav from Alola (you might notice a pattern: I like lizards and fire), Decidueye, Vikavolt, Mudsdale, and Stufful (fucking CUTEST THING), among others. Null and Silvally are also pretty awesome. :3

Other mons among my favorite from all the gens are Nidoqueen (and all the Nidos), Umbreon, Flygon, Serperior, Archeops, Mewtwo, Zekrom, and Weavile. And also many others.

What reasons are yours for liking Raichu versus what are theirs?

So when I was a kid one of my favorite episodes in the original anime was the Lt. Surge episode. I was so impressed by how strong and badass Raichu was and loved the juxtaposition of it with Pikachu (power vs. speed; everyone has different styles) and giving the evo some love. I think in first gen Raichu was supposed to be one of the more powerful Pokémon (of course it's since been overshadowed).

It's that, my love of Electric as a type, and my general love of the unloved/underdogs that led me to be a big stan for Raichu.

Everyone else likes it because they think it's cute. I mean I guess it is, but it's always been a symbol of badassery and power to me. I think I'm doing it wrong.

(I also have nothing against cute Pokémon, but personally I don't think Raichu is the best example. I have some favorites in the cute department and could easily name a dozen I'd point to as "OMG SO FUCKING CUTE!" before Raichu. I guess I kind of resent the common interpretation of Raichu because I have used the name Raichu online for years and everyone assumes it's because it's cute and I'm primarily into cute things/have a cutesy personality and I find that really annoying because it's really not how I want to present myself.)

(Further addendum: I wanted Raichu to get a mega SO BAD. Electric/Dark was my dream typing, but beggars can't be choosers. And something badass. Yeah. Never going to happen now, and Alolan Raichu is everything I hate about the popular interpretation of Raichu in general. And of course everyone loves it. :/ )

Ah okay, I only ever played the games so I've never been effected by a narrative for Pokemon that strongly but that makes sense.

I guess you can count me among the people who think Raichu is cute so I like the Alola form. But considering Pokemon is now willing to give pokemon new types, you never know? Maybe another Raichu is in the cards for the future?

I think it's very unlikely but that would be nice. :)

Xurkitree is great, and so are the happy dances it does when you pet it and feed it beans in Refresh. Nihilego has also kicked serious butt at the Battle Tree. I was also very pleased to see how expressive Guzzlord is.

Salazzle is amazing. I used one on my own Alola team - she was easily one of its strongest members.

Pokémon Refresh is so great isn't it? I love love love using it after battles!

But how does Xurkitree eat things??????

My favorite is Meowstic (preference to the male one), but I like a lot of other Pokemon too, like Sylveon, Mimikyu, A. Vulpix, Serperior, Primarina, etc. I tend to favor Pokemon with a refined, dainty design (barring Mimikyu, of the examples I gave, lol).

I wouldn't call Serperior dainty by any means, but I'm here for giant grass snake love! <3

First Gen: Meowth, Charizard, Mew, Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon.
Second Gen: Umbreon, Espeon, Sneasel, Skarmory, Totodile, Chikorita's entire line.
Third Gen: Torchic, Blaziken, Treecko, Grovyle, Absol.
Fourth Gen: Riolu and Lucario. Glameow. Darkrai as well.
Fifth Gen: Liepard. <3 And Snivy's whole evolutionary line.
Sixth Gen: Fennekin's whole line. Mega Absol, Mega Lucario.
Seventh Gen: Literally all the Ultra Beasts except Nihilego which creeps me out. All the starters and their evolutions. Mudbray and Mudsdale. All the Tapus. Solgaleo and Lunala. Cosmog. Lurantis. <3

oh man how could I forget the Tapus! Tapu Koko is my favorite but they are all so great aren't they?

I'm torn between Tapu Koko and Tapu Fini myself. They're so fun to use. And such useful catchers (I mean this too. I rely on them with Nature's Madness when I can't use a Lurantis with False Swipe.)

Garchomp, Giratina, Mimikyu, pretty much all the dragons sans the latest ones. Love Alolan Raichu and Ninetales. Also Luxray.

I have way too many favorites to list, so that's all I'ma post. :P

*waiting ever so patiently for that Gen 4 remake*

Plusle, Minun, Pikachu, Eevee, Braviary, Mimikyu, Articuno, Suicune and that's just what I can rememember right now I like a lot of 'em. :D

Well, Pikachu would be cliché, but GIANT THUNDERMOUSE <3

Other than that, I tend to play Grass-type, so Bulbasaur.
