hahahaha yes

had a frozen section come in today (official turn around time is 20 minutes but usually takes around 15), and they were like "WE NEED THIS DONE FAST". I'm like ok, these are my first priority (always), I'll get it done asap. they called me literally TWO MINUTES LATER looking for results. I was so surprised I almost didn't even know what to say. this is a surgeon who sends us stuff all the time and should fucking know better, and has never had an issue before (to top it off, he's also an incredibly accomplished internationally known surgeon with his own Wikipedia page. so definitely smart. like. come ON dude. does he have no idea how pathology works??)

I can't magically make your results appear in two minutes, guys. It's just not possible. I have to gross, freeze, cut, and stain, and THEN the pathologist has to read it, which takes more time.

I was so flustered after that :/

I hate when people pressure you repeatedly to go faster than normal. Even worse when they watch you do it. Suddenly all your competence goes away.

It pisses me off because frozen sections are my #1 priority, they're the entire reason I'm even working in this building, and I literally drop everything to do one when it comes in because that's my job. So I always do them ASAP; I don't drag my feet - why would I? So when they're like "OMG DO MINE FAST" first it's like, I will, you asking me will not have any effect on that. And second, when you call me to bother me about it, all the time I spend talking on the phone with you? it will take that much longer to get your frozen done.

Some surgeons come into the room while I'm working, and those tend to know what's up and understand the process (though in theory they should all understand it since it's...kind of an important aspect of surgery, and very basic in concept). But this guy has never come over here and apparently thinks we can snap our fingers and make results appear immediately. YIKES.

.......sorry for ranting at you ;-;
