(Anonymous) 2016-12-16 03:37 am (UTC)(link)Of course, people didn't just drop dead at 45 either, unless there was a health problem at work, like an accident, infected injury, disease, malnutrition, complications of childbirth, violence... everything that could kill you today could kill you then, and many more things were not survivable.
I've been listening to a podcast called the History of English that's about the English language but concerns a lot of English history, too, and it's remarkable how often kings kept dying before they'd had a chance to produce an heir.
