Original Percival Graves/Newt or Credence.

But...I've not seen the movie and don't really know what it is about. But this one blogger I follow on Tumblr is always able to make me care about ships I have never heard of.

SAME SAME SAAAAAAAAME.

The movie is great BTW, or at least worth seeing for the gay-as-fuck Graves/Credence scenes.

I should probably actually watch it but I really don't want to see that jerk actor at the end. >.>

I got no beef. Loved the reveal. But yeah, most people hated it.

I do not get the appeal of Graves, man. 0.0 And shipping him with Credence is so skeevy to me (I mean yeah that's the point for some people which is fine) because Credence can't be older than sixteen, though the sexual tension on Graves' part had to have been deliberate.

But anyway, Graves was such a cutout villain to me. I loved everyone else in the movie tbh, but was meh on him.

I've not seen the movie so I just base it on Tumblr.

Not that it really matters, but Credence's actor is almost 24

Re: Newest Ships

(Anonymous) 2016-12-17 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
And he's described as an adult in the screenplay.

But the antis really seem to get off on making him out to be a teenager.

Really? That surprises me. The implications was very, very strong that he was a teenager (still lived with adoptive mom, was an Obscurus [mostly just children], looked and acted like a teen)

(also please don't lump me in with ~the antis~, people can ship whatever the fuck they want, I was just sharing my own viewpoint on it)

da

idk i read him as meek and submissive because of his abusive upbringing more than him being a teenager, as for the living at home he had an abusive mother and they were dirt poor in the 1920's so i can definitely see him still living there as an adult.

you don't have to agree but that's just my take on it.

I mean I'm really curious now as to whether there is WOG on how old he is.

Re: Newest Ships

(Anonymous) 2016-12-17 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
sa

I don't think there is, outside of knowing that modesty was under 10 i don't know if the other characters have official ages and in that case i tend to figure that the age of the actor they get is round about the age of the character.

but as the other anon said it's mentioned that he's an adult in the screenplay so that's probably about as wog as you're gonna get since I doubt the writers cared that much, they only narrowed down modesty's age because it was a plot point. there is a fan-wiki that lists Newt's potential dob but no canon age for him in the movie for example, so you could in theory work out his age in the movie but it's still not really wog.

As someone who's also almost 24, I'm actually shocked to learn that Ezra Miller & I are the same age. I'm now so upset and feel super unaccomplished by comparison.

I came out of the movie shipping it and I am so annoyed with myself, why couldn't I have liked the happy ships? Jacob/Queenie was cute, Newt/Tina has promise but no, I had to go for the absolute clusterfuck that is Graves/Credence.

Thanks, brain.

It really does, lol.

Also I blame Colin Farrel, fuck his hotness.

Re: Newest Ships

(Anonymous) 2016-12-17 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
It really doesn't hurt that there is sexual tension dripping off Graves every time the two of them are in the same scene. I mean, I know it's wrong because Credence is a teen and Graves is manipulating the fuck out of him even if he weren't a teen, but it's so hard NOT to ship it in its fucked up glory.

Colin Farrell was amazing in that role.

I didn't come out of the movie with any ships, but I just recently followed someone on Tumblr who's been posting a lot of Credence stuff and interviews and whatnot, and I'm ngl, I'm disappointed that when I went looking, there was only one Ezra/Colin RPS fic. That GIFset going around with the tag about never before having seen someone so obviously will away a boner sold me on them tbh.
