Rats would have an uneasy alliance with weasels, since they suffer from similar villainizing in works like The Wind in the Willows and the Redwall series. They would get on people's nerves with their frequent reminders that idioms like "weasel words" and "rats leaving the sinking ship" are speciesist.

Argh I hated Redwall as a kid purely because my pets were rats, ferrets, and cats, and with rats and ferrets especially, they were always the bad guys.
