I don't watch anymore and have no idea what any of this refers to, but way back when, didn't Alex find out Mere messed with Adele's Alzheimer's trial and also not immediately tell on her (until he did for petty reasons, but still...)? Sounds like a callback to that. Or even all the way back to Izzie's LVAD wire fiasco. Idk, it totally is something Mere would do.
