38: I've seen that assumption before and I just totally disagree with it. The writers failed to make her character interesting or relevant, and the fact that Bela is still even alive after all the times she's thrown Sam and Dean into danger is just a testament to how sexist the writers are, probably without even realizing it. If Bela was male at the very least Dean would have already beaten the shit out of her (like he did with Gordon - and in Bloodlust Gordon didn't even SHOOT Sam like she did. He just nicked him with a knife).

Bela wasn't hated because she was female. The WRITERS are at fault. Maybe you haven't realized that the "jealous fangirl" argument is a really weak one.

Agreed, the writing was sucky, which is pretty disappointing because Lauren's kinda cute.

And yeah, I agree with this as well, Dean would have fucking killed Bela already if she was a dude.

And the jealous fangirl thing is so overused, try again kthxbai.

I really like Bela, but I don't think that everyone MUST like her just because I do. Your arguments make sense for why you don't like her, but lots of people just say "girl, ick" and that's disappointing. (I'm not the OP, BTW!)

Also, what's with the lighthearted treatment of gunshot wounds in season 3? Seriously!

I'd say Bela is a great character, and she made sense in the first 2 eps. After that the writers have kinda dropped th ball though. She's fine when she's on her own, but whenever she interacts with the boys she feels completely shoehorned in. The boys wouldn't go anywhere near her ever again, unless it's to stop her/kick her ass, but I haven't seen much of that around.

I miss my overprotective big brother Dean, where'd he go?

If Dean did go after her the way you describe, the writers would be accused of sexism for condoning violence against women. It is difficult almost to the point of impossibility to write any character that's going to please everyone, and even more so when issues of diversity are involved.

I agree about Bela's lack of interest and relevance, though.

I agree with you and it makes me sad, because when I think of "violence against women" I think about rape and men attacking innocent women, not DEFENDING YOURSELF AND YOUR BROTHER AGAINST A BITCH WHO'S OUT TO GET YOU OMG.
