Lalalalala that bit of "Boiling Rock" didn't happen. Mae didn't suddenly grow a weird personality and that awful awful relationship won't happen...lalalala.

(I don't really care if Zutara makes it or not, I just don't want Zuko/Mae. It actually makes me gag. They could suddenly make her the new Suki, and it still wouldn't make me forgive "You're so beautiful when you hate the world." Or the fact that this is a girl who doesn't actually care about her family, her friends, or what side she's on. Flat-character=funny. Trying to give her a dimension...no)

Sorry, just watched it yesterday, and it's been on my mind.

Agreed. I hate Mai. I was all excited when she was being a total bitch and then she had to go and save the day. Dammit, Mai. Dammit, Bryke! CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY.

Ah, come on, guys--Mai's not that terrible--even though I don't care for her myself. Besides, I think Mai/Zuko is pretty much ended after TBR, since both have acknowledged that Zuko is always going to choose the greater good over Mai. I'm not sure Mai is ever going to get past that.

She deserved to be angry for the impersonal breakup, but all things considered, I thought she took it well--esp. considering Zuko tossed her and locked her into a cell before she decided to save his life.

I hated Mai long before Maiko ever happened. Every time she complained about how she was bored and life sucked and nothing ever happened and BAWWWWWW, I wanted to invent the technology to make myself a cartoon, jump through the TV/laptop screen and yell at her to quit her bitching and make. something. happen.

Srsly, characters who whine and bellyache about their problems but do nothing to fix them piss me right off. One of the many reasons I think she and Zuko were completely wrong for each other, and written as such on purpose. Their whole relationship was a parallel to his return to the Fire Nation. It didn't work, and it wasn't supposed to.

Or maybe Azula will sex her up and the people who hate her because she gets in the way of their precious Zutara (which is a good amount of Mai-haters, I'm pretty sure) can chillax already.

Even if the Beach was a lulzy episode, it showed that Mai had legitimate psychological reasons for having a certain degree of apathy toward her family. She also had to bear a certain amount of pressure from and explicitly has stated that she feared Azula. Canon also showed us that Mai visibly and obviously emoted more because of Zuko, in that a major part of her joining Azula was in the hopes of seeing him, in that he makes her happy and subsequently inspires her to try and make him happy, see: boat. etc.
