I just want them to be less massively overrated. Their coloring isn't even that good, but everyone faps themselves silly over it. What a joke. BNFs in iconing are the stupidest things ever to exist, especially when the BNFs actually aren't that good. But I guess that's the definition of BNF in any fandom: Someone who actually isn't that good at what they do, but everyone fangasms over them anyway. How dumb.

Did you ever stop to consider that the people's icons are liked and popular for a reason? I highly doubt that people would choose to use and fangirl icons that looked bad. It's up to you whether you think they're overrated or not, but saying that they should GTFO fandom is a bit much. People aren't "fangasmed" over because they're BNFs, they're BNFs beause people fangasm over them. Trufax.

By the way, I think

undeadmiko and

nefadol have some of the best manga coloring skills out of all the iconists PERIOD, let alone CLAMP fandom. And I'm apparently not alone in thinking this, either. You're just making the two other iconists look bad.

Disclaimer: I don't even know the other two iconists.

I'm not saying they should gtfo fandom. I just wish that people would look for a little more variety in the icons they use and recommend to other people. All of those two's icons look just the same as all their other ones. If that's what you're into, more power to you, but I'm tired of looking around for manga coloring icons and having everyone and their dog tell me to look at theirs.

Your secret says you think they should GTFO your fandoms. :| And I'm not saying your opinion is invalid or anything, I just don't think that insulting the other two iconists is a good way of getting that opinion across. All their icons look the same because that's their style? D: I mean, that's just kind of to be expected.

There's plenty of places to look for manga coloring icons; I'm sorry the people you know aren't familiar enough with icons to give you more varied recommendations, but that doesn't make those two's icons any less good, imho.

Boy, that wasn't a predictable response, or anything.

Not to agree with the wank, but I agree that

undeadmiko is overrated. Her manga coloring is a bit less than average (shading would help A LOT) and her selective coloring on non-manga icons is plain and unappealing. I don't think her icons are unattractive, but I do find myself not wanting to use them.

Nobody's forcing you to use, or even to like, her icons. D:

Yes I know. That's why I've never really given it a second thought and I don't make fandomsecrets about it. I don't feel like anyone is forcing me to do anything and I don't use her icons.

I just wish her icons had more variety to them. They're all the same techniques made with the same colors and the same textures. I don't mind lack of shading in most manga coloring icons, because it's something that takes a lot of practice (speaking as someone who has had a lot of said practice), but I just wish she experimented more instead of sticking with the same tried and true formula. Play around with colors, use a different method on anime caps, etc.

That said, yay, someone finally agrees with me.

I don't even use selective coloring... And I do shade. :/ I just don't make it as noticeable as

nefadol.

Btw I don't care if you find me overrated. I just make icons for fun anyway. I don't even think they are that great myself.

Er okay, whatever the coloring technique used on your icons is. I'm pretty sure you don't just crop them and base them. Sorry.

I'm not agreeing with the secret. I certainly don't want you to gtfo of fandom and I don't even know who those other two icon makers are.

I find glitz_x's and killie_latte's icons to be plain and unappealing.

So I don't use them.

You know what, even if they never opened Photoshop again, even if they never started iconing in the first place, people would still like them because they're NICE.

They don't start wank, they're not full of themselves with massive egos, they're not mindless fangirls, they icon for fun not to be popular, in short they're simply fun people to talk too. THAT'S why they're BNFs and why people like them.

I never said people weren't allowed to like them for those reasons. Even the OP didn't say that, though they might have intended to. What I said was that I find their iconing skills overrated. People that I know never talk to those two still fangirl their icons, even though I think there are much better ones out there.

I find nothing wrong with liking a person for being nice. In fact, I'm reassured to know that those iconists aren't only liked for their mad skillz. But I don't find their skillz that great, myself, and I wish people would stop being morally OFFENDED!!!!! when I say so. Me saying that has nothing to do with them as people. It's about their icons. Not their personalities.

I'm not going to go anonymous on what I'm going to say, despite being their friends.

I do agree that their colouring isn't as great as what fandom makes it out to be, but there's absolutely NO REASON why people shouldn't like them. They have nice compositions, nice colour choices, shaded nicely (in Kim/

nefadol's case), etc. They're extremely down to earth people, making them likable as iconmakers and members of fandom alike.

I don't think that should there not be the two of them around, that there'd be that much difference in "popularity" of iconmakers. Their icons are popular for a reason, you know? I'm all for obscure iconmakers, and I pimp them out when I can, but the truth is, that's life. Oligopolies exist, what're you going to do about it?
