You do you, OP, but it sounds like you think the whole point of making fanworks is for socialising with other fans? Because I'll be the first to say, as someone whose OTP is a rarepair in a small fandom, that that is not the reason I make fanworks. I do it as a way to express my appreciation of the canon, and also so that my stuff exists, just in case there are other fans out there who would like to see them, even if they don't say so.
