Eh, even though I don't expect to get tight bonds with people in fandom, I still create fanworks for them. I usually enjoy the canon so much that I want to expand on it somehow. Kind of weird to me if you were involved in fandom only to make friends. If I happen to make some friends, then that's just a bonus, not the endgoal.
