Wine

(Anonymous) 2016-12-25 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Does anyone know what I should be looking for if I want a very sweet white wine? I had some wine recently and it was really sweet (and I think it was a "younger" wine)? I'd like to buy a similar bottle for New Years but I am not sure what to look for.

Ice wine, sweet Riesling... there are a lot of very sweet champagnes as well.

It's usually best to ask your local wine shop what they have in the way of dessert wines if you're looking for something on the sweeter side.

Ice wine is way too sweet though imo... Riesling on the other hand is very pleasant, almost like juice

I only like sweet wines, and if I'm drinking wine it is generally dessert wines.

Asti Cinzano is a very sweet sparkling white wine. I used to like it, but this days I find it way to sweet.

I'm not really a wine person, but when I drink wine I usaully get a bottle of Moscato d'Asti, which is quite sweet (And sparkling!). I think a lot of wines made with Muscat grapes are sweet (I'm not 100 % certain about this though), so perhaps look for that?

I can definitely second the Moscato d'Asti recommendation, that's a little trickier, but moscato in general is super easy to find. It's a little bubbly, very sweet. Pink moscato is also good

If you're looking for specifics, I'm fond of Relax Riesling or funf riesling are both quite delicious. If you're in the southern US, look for the Duplin wines, sweet muscadine is a sweet white wine that's easy to drink.

I like ice wines but they are dessert wines that are incredibly sweet.

Most liquor stores are able to help you if you say "I'm looking for a sweet white wine and this is my budget"
