I actually liked her on the show, myself. I wasn't sure how she'd fit in when it was announced she'd be joining, but I thought she clicked well with the rest of the cast. I also liked Seaver and Blake, particularly Blake. I find myself missing her sometimes when I watch back episodes from seasons 8 and 9.

I agree it'd be nice if the show could keep a set cast for more than a year or two again, yes. They've had a LOT of cast changes in recent years and I don't blame fans for being exhausted by all of it.

But I've still personally liked all the characters who've come and gone over the years regardless. I also get the feeling most, if not all, of these cast changes are less the fault of the show itself and more the fault of the network heads, given how they seem to have a history of messing with the show.

(I also feel it doesn't help that one of the reasons some of these women may not stay long is because of the negative reaction they tend to receive from fans. Seaver got dumped on by fans, I read so many comments from people who wanted Blake gone and Emily back, JLH was hated on before she even appeared on the show... And anytime the show did try and develop the characters more, fans complained about them taking away focus from the rest of the team. I sometimes feel like some fans didn't give the newer characters much of a chance.)

I don't hold it against the actress but as a character, Seaver didn't make any sense. You lose two seasoned agents and replace them with a rookie who's not even out of the academy? And the fact that her super power was basically "having a serial killer as a dad" was pretty hokey and a strain on the credibility.

Oh, yeah, I agree that a lot of that storyline was farfetched (and pretty much straight out of fanfic, really-I swear I've seen some variation of that plot before in many a fic). I think the whole thing of a team member having a serial killer for a father could've been an interesting angle, and I liked the way Seaver talked about what her life was like with that kind of a dad.

But yeah, it seemed like they didn't really do much with that part of her past beyond mentioning it in a couple episodes, and so it kinda went nowhere in the end.

Still liked the character herself, though-I really liked the relationship between her and Rossi, and her interactions with Reid were cute.

For me, there was no coming back from a premise that flimsy. I wish they'd written a better back story for her. Particularly when you consider the context of AJ and Paget getting fired, casting a younger actress who felt like a self insert fanfiction character... Well, no wonder it went over like a lead balloon.
