Re: Star Wars
(Anonymous) 2016-12-29 01:34 am (UTC)(link)I share your frustration with the SW fandom, especially the old guard OT boys-club who seem determined to hate on everything new. I can see where they're coming from with the prequels but their 180 on TFA has made me realize just how nitpicky and unreasonable they are. They didn't like the prequels for not being different enough. Then they didn't like TFA for being too similar. Now they love R1 for being like OT but already there's pushback for either being too fan servicey (Tarkin's inclusion) or not fan servicey enough (not enough Vader). They are impossible to please and I no longer take anything they say as worth listening too. They seem delighted in being unhappy so I'm just glad to stick to my part of fandom, which is super happy with all SW has to offer.
I mentioned this elsewhere in the thread but CinemaWins did a few videos on the prequels, highlighting everything great about them. I would recommend watching those. I think there's more and more pushback now to the hate on the prequels (sadly so there can be hate on TFA). Old fans take it as a given that they're crap but there are a lot more fans who grew up having seen the prequels as kids and still love them.
