A really specialized type of design and (non-architectural) engineering. I own a small company that handles the more basic jobs while I do the complicated stuff and also all the 'fun' managerial stuff.

There's only a handful of people in the US that do my specific thing, so in the interests of keeping my privacy I keep this vague.

$23,000 before taxes.

I dunno... maybe 60k before taxes?

23k

(Anonymous) 2016-12-30 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'm hourly, but it averages out to about 23,000 a year. Sadly, it is not much to live on where I am. :(

Sorry, meant to put in there, US dollars.

I'm kind of curious what the distribution is like, but I don't think anyone will come out and say what they make if it's a whole lot.

What counts as a whole lot? To me over 100k would count as a whole lot.

Whatever they feel is a whole lot, enough to make them uncomfortable with saying? I'm not making any judgments here.

But I bet more people would more willingly hit an anon checkmark for 100k or something to help build a statistic than answer an open ended question and sound like they're bragging about what they earn.

Less than $10,000. I need a new job.

Uh, I think it's about $32k USD before taxes and health insurance (my health insurance, the part that I pay in, is deducted from my paycheck, so it feels like a lot less, but I have pretty decent insurance so I can't complain, really).

ETA: to clarify, I work hourly, so that's just an estimate.

Mine alone? About 45k. Including my husband's? Well over 150k.

$12,500 and a bit, if I don't work extra hours, before taxes, but I have benefits which raise the actual amount to $20,000ish before taxes. Hopefully soon to be $26,000 or thereabouts, if I (finally) get the promotion I've been trying for for most of a decade. It's only a $3.50/hr pay bump at first, and the benefit amount is the same, but after 2 years I'd be making $6.50 more an hour when I get it. The most I ever made before taxes when I had the same job, but as an hourly non-benefitted employee, was $17,000 or so, so once I'm done with school I could probably make $26,000/yr even without the promotion, but dammit, I deserve it.
My last interview but this one, the interview chair told me they weren't sure why I didn't get the job because I was top of the recommended for promotion list. When I asked the higher-ups for info apparently it was politicking bullshit that didn't even involve me.
