37. If you express even the mildest, most reasonable feminist ideas, some fucker will still call you a "feminazi" or a "man-hater" to get you to shut up. These are insults invented by and used by feminism's enemies. Tragically, they're also occasionally used by feminists themselves, whether to cut down a fellow feminist with whom they happen to disagree, or to beg for approval - "I'm not one of those feminazis!" Fuck the name-calling; speak your honest thoughts; be respectful of other feminists; find a safe space if you need it and if you can; be strong.

Thanks. I'm learning how to do that, but I have to say, the dismissals from women are the hardest for me to stand up to because I'm always wondering if they're being more sensible than I am. I = bad feminist at times.

It's really hard to rely on our own judgement and conscience, because we're so used to checking with those around us whether we're on the right track. (When it comes to other women, maybe that's where the insults come from - they're also worried about whether they've got it right, so get defensive and nasty when someone questions them.)

The main thing is this - no matter what opinion you express, some damn fool will call you a name, so you may as well just say what you really think. *tired old feminist hugs* :-)
