Plus, I think that overall, Nathan is good character to have on Heroes. He makes Peter tolerable, for one.

I'd have iked evil!Nathan. :( He was growing into such a cool villain in season 1. I want Nathan to become evil. :/

Agh I knooow. S1 Nathan >>>> S2 Nathan. Nathan The Utter Asshole was fantastic. I didn't really want him to become evil, or not full-on Sylar-like evil; but he was pragmatic, ambitious, and selfish, and that could have taken him to really interesting places.

ETA: In fact, it did take him to really interesting places. Nathan had a complete storyline in S1, which is why his death at the end would have been fitting.
