PPFFTTT AHAHAHA. You do have a point.
At least he had some silly and gay redeeming moments (the Nanami-egg episode wherein he is wearing an apron, for one.) I mean, Shiori wasn't even cool in the movie.

I still don't think even Shiori measures up to Anthy's bitchiness. In my opinion, Shiori was only after Juri, but Anthy- she played everyone. Utena, Nanami, Akio, Saionji, etc....

...It is also very, VERY possible that I am biased since I'm a Ruka fan. And I haven't seen the series in years, so I don't really recall much manipulation towards Akio or Saionji, and Nanami...well, she sorta deserved whatever she got, imho. Again, bitter ex-nerd who likes seeing the popular kids get theirs here.

Anthy really taunted and hurt people more than manipulated them, I think. Saionji considered Anthy a trophy and loved her as one, making him feel special and worthy because he had the rose bride, but when he lost Anthy to Utena, she said to him, "Take it easy, Saionji-sempai" as if he were nothing more than a normal student.

In Akio's case, it was a similar sort of thing. Akio craved and enjoyed having control over people, especially during sex, but there are many examples in which Anthy shows complete indifference towards him (i.e when he's trying to pound into her head that Utena is his conquest, or after they've finished having sex，etc.)

I really liked Nanami, though. Even though she was popular, I never saw her as picking on the nerds. She did like Miki, after all. It just seemed that she was the type to be really elitist, but I thought that she had a right to be.

...Damn, again, I really need to rewatch the series, since I barely recall any of that. I remember the basics--Saionji and the trophy bride thing, Anthy's indifference, etc--but I don't really remember anything beyond that. Maybe my opinion will be swayed a bit now that I'm not 14 and upset at the world...

Ehh. I liked Nanami as a joke character. Otherwise she really reminded me of this bitch at school, elitist attitude and all, and I didn't want anything to do with her. I didn't really see Mikki as a nerd, actually, just a young, smart, cute kid. There are plenty of non-nerds with that description. I guess when I say nerd I mean more like Nanami's stalker-triplets.
