I hadn't thought of that but I can dig it (I do like human/divine ships though)

Mmmm, size differences. I have nothing productive to add as I haven't seen the movie. But I could probably totally ship this because I love inter-species relationships (and several of my OTPs in my main fandom involve gods or at least god-like figures).

Interspecies relationships rock. I wish there was more shippable material out there for that sort of thing beyond the Star Wars/Star Trek fandoms. :/

So I just started reading this book today and it takes place in the far future where humans are all spacefaring but not the dominant race in the galaxy but a part of this book-universe's galactic federation (that's not what it's actually called but I'm blanking on the actual term at the moment). Anyway, there's a bunch of different alien races and at least one relationship between a human dude and an alien woman (who appears to be pretty badass going off into dangerous situations and leaving the dude behind to worry about her constantly and I think that's a nice reversal of the usual).

There's also a lot of references to various interspecies relationships and one of the main characters is a part of a race that is...pretty sex positive and generally physically affectionate (though this character has spent enough time among humans to realize not everybody has the same lack of personal space and is respectful of that). Also I have the niggling suspicion another character is going to end up in some sort of romantic/sexual relationship with her. Nothing overt was said, I just have this feeling. And it would be adorable.

Anyway, it's pretty neat. :)

Thanks for the book rec. Just bought it. :)

Well I definitely like this pairing better than the alternative, so ... I support you, OP.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-31 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
What's the alternative? Maui/Moana or Maui/Te Fiti? I'm thinking the former, but I4ve actually seen both, so...

Moana/Maui or other iteration. I very nearly antiship it. Very DNW.

I didn't ship anything in the movie but mortal/immortal ships are totally a thing I like so I can see the appeal in this.

oh man Greek mythology must be like the gift that keeps on giving for you

It really is.

I'm not really into F/F but I had the same feeling. They were the only thing I ended up shipping. I just love the song and the whole set up when Moana gives the heart back. It's beautiful.

It took me a while to figure out what this reminds me of: http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/1145114-steven-universe

Eh, that's not even that weird.

/ships Moana with the ocean

(Anonymous) 2016-12-31 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
No lie, I kind of did too. The ocean brought about the entire adventure to save her.

I don't usually like age difference ships and man, but Moana's phrasing of "I have crossed the horizon to find you," then literally restoring Te Fiti's heart, complete with a head touch, was v. romantic.
