I haven't seen any of the discussion of this character so I don't really have much to contribute regarding the secret itself, but from my own playthrough... I thought she was an interesting character, but specifically because she managed to be so forthright and yet so passive at the same time?

It's certainly made clear to us that she supports both Lillie and Gladion, and she's happy that they've each respectively managed to better their own lives and escape Aether/Lusamine. But nothing really seems to indicate that Wicke did much to actively assist either of them. There might have been a sort of passive support, like... she didn't stop them escaping, and that in turn was "helping" them? But whether by choice or because she felt trapped by Lusamine, Wicke really doesn't take an active role that we can see.

When you consider the Type: Full stuff as well... yeah, it just adds up to an interesting picture. She doesn't quite contradict herself as a character, but I think she does contradict the image of herself she projects. :|a

She reminds me a little of Saturn and Rood, although both of them are recognized as villains by most of the fandom. Wicke has a reputation as Team Mom, sweetness and light. Sure she gives you malasadas and I could easily see her making them herself, and she undermined the foundation by going to the police, but, as you said, she didn't do anything to step in on a more personal level.

Lusamine doesn't really care to look for her runaway kids. They're dead to her. Once Gladion left, Wicke should have seen that Lusamine didn't make an attempt to find him (and he isn't hard to find. He doesn't even lock his hotel door) and gotten Lillie away the second things went sour.

It isn't like Team Plasma, where speaking up against the rampant child abuse would probably get someone killed. The worst I can see Lusamine doing is firing anyone who did so, and that's if she even found out who was behind it.

Lillie credits Wicke with getting her through that time, but that's such an odd thing to say about a person who didn't DO anything to help or intervene.

I took that to mean that Wicke was supportive of her and probably cheered her up when she was upset by her mother, was the one who took care of her when she was sick, and other things like that. I wouldn't defend Wicke's inactions either, but I don't think that totally nullifies her motherliness. Her lack of action in reporting abuse to the authorities doesn't mean she couldn't have been someone who did try to support Lillie and Gladion.

Well yeah, it doesn't negate that, but it doesn't make her a GOOD mother figure either. Not an abusive one like Lusamine, but not an actively good one either.
