What movies/shows/games/books have been spoiled for you? How were they spoiled?

Change subject heading to fandom!

SPOILERS WITHIN OBVIOUSLY!

Pokemon SM

I'm in Europe so I got SM a bit later than the rest of the world. While I was still waiting, I daydreamed about what my team would be. I fell in love with Cosmog from the moment I saw it in the trailer, so I decided to just look up in advance where I could find it in Sun.

Bulbapedia: It evolves into Cosmoem starting at level 43, which evolves into either Solgaleo or Lunala starting at level 53 depending on the game it evolves in.

Me: *whispers* What.

3:10 To Yuma

Spoilers don't bother me usually. But, when I was in college, I got the 3:10 To Yuma remake on DVD from netflix. Told the people I was eating dinner with that I was watching it after dinner. My ex-roommate just goes, "You know so-and-so dies at the end of that?"

I was livid and never ended up watching the movie. Oddly, I've since forgotten who dies so maybe I'll watch it sometime.

Yuri On Ice

There was one anon who spoiled the engagement scene and didn't mark it as a spoiler, but I didn't care. It was still cute.

Final Fantasy VII

I never played this game because I'd already been spoiled on who died.

I think it'd be pretty hard to remain unspoiled on that because it's one of the most talked about deaths in Final Fantasy history, I played the game years ago and still knew all the spoilers.

nayrt but I played the game without knowing the spoiler (one of the few, back in the 90s). at the time, I remember being truly shocked, and then I was absolutely certain she would be resurrected, and it was shocking again that she wasn't.

Playing it again knowing she dies is another experience, because you spend the whole time feeling bad for her since you realize she talks about her future goals and hopes more than any other character, so it's like, oh shit.

It's kind of two different experiences. A shame the vast, vast majority of players don't come into it cold.

SA I still liked the game even with knowing quite a bit about it, but it is a shame more people can't go into it spoiler free even if they wanted to.

The one thing knowing the spoiler did help me to make sure I had another healer at the ready and to not invest too much into having her in my party since she would be taken away. Sometimes I hate when RPGS randomly take away my party characters so I like to be prepared.

To be fair, it was pretty much spoiled in commercials when the game first came out in '97.

I played it spoiled on that (and a bunch of other stuff), and it was a great experience anyway. There's a lot to the game aside from that one death, you know.

Stranger Things

People were spoiling a lot about that series even when it had not been out long, definitely had Barb's fate spoiled.
