Yeah, it's crazy to me to have extended family all readily in one place. I don't have a lot of other relatives by blood, and even if we count my brother-in-law's family (who are crazy and we don't get on well), they are way up in NorCal.

My friend's parents host this annual party, and they have 3 kids who are (as of this year) now all married so all the in-laws are there, plus assorted friends (yo)- and young friends whose parents are friends with the host-parents often come, and there winds up being 4 generations all there. Good party. There's often a ferocious game of Spoons right before midnight. I actually have a tiny scar on my wrist from being scratched by another friend's mother tussling over spoons. I always harass her about it when we play.

Plus the host, Eva, is a great cook. She was born in Austria and always makes amazing food- they invite potluck contributions, but she does a whole meal herself anyway. I always make some kind of vegetarian side so there's another option for my veggie friends.
