The current fandom of half my dash has been having a cow the last couple of days, and I find myself longing for the good ol' days when someone would've been digging up the craziest bits for sharing.

Sometimes. But I've also come to realize a lot of my friends there were just as bad as everyone they made fun of.

I'm surprised there's not a tumblr equivalent of fandom wank but then again maybe it's too much for anyone to sift through.

I kind of miss when fandom was a bit more insular.

A tumblr equivalent of fandom wank would be indistinguishable from the wank itself within like 3 days

The tumblr format doesn't really lend itself to the kind of write-ups that fandom wank did. It's hard to link to a whole "thread" (which in this case would be a string of reblogs I guess) and the urls change too often when people change their names.

Screenshots of the wank then? That's the main thing I could think of if you did want to track what was going on.

YES. So much. Even just to read back over old wanks I loved. But I don't think f!w would survive in this fandom climate; it was already dying before jf went down.

I miss the golden days of the mid - late 00s though, HBP, Usagi Kou, my ponies hate you, I'm so glad I fuck my doll, incest is creepy! Sigh. Halcyon days.

Not even a little. I hated the bullying culture and how vicious so many of the posts were, usually far more mean spirited than whatever their target said or did.

Yeah, same. I'm not on Tumblr, but it sounds like the bullying culture is certainly still a thing. But I really hated those stupid bullying LJs and such. Fanficrants was another one that can go fuck itself in the ass.

I miss having the wank on here, that is for sure. Especially when you could really get stuck into the snowflakes. They had no response and no logic to back up their hurt fee-fees, that is why they kept on running to Case to shut down something they didn't like but had no argument against.

A lot of the old wankers were the Internet equivalent of a monkey throwing its own feces. I appreciate that someone was willing to clean it up.

Yes and no. I miss having convenient places to go to find out wth was going on, since I'm always out of the loop.

But those communities (and comms like fanficrants, booju, sf_d, etc.) were really vicious. A lot of times they were making fun of people either very young and stupid, or people who really needed some serious mental health care and weren't getting it.

Like, haha let's make fun of this cat lady who lives in a hoarder house in constant pain, because their mind has gotten so broken that the only escape is to pretend they're Cloud Strife. Fucking hilarious.

Or, this person has posted 2,000 comments in the past two days in an endless argument with fifty other users. Let's keep the flames going, they obviously don't have some sort of serious problem that pushes them into self-destructive behavior amirite?

I miss being able to have a post with wank archived and explained in a single post instead of trying to dig through posts and posts of it.

Yep. I didn't post much, but I always enjoyed reading about the latest fandom dramas.
