I've thought about this too. I would very likely die if I didn't get my medicine every two months, and it's a recent invention that can't be substituted with any common herb or other "natural" medicine. I wouldn't last long in any of these back-to-nature settings.

(I have considered the possibility of a character like me as a kingmaker in a zombie story. With no realistic hope of survival, they could devote their efforts to making sure the future after them is a better one and opposing the folks who would try to kill off the weak. It could make for a good point about how messed up the zombie genre really is.)
