What's your favorite dog breed?

Or cat breed. Or both.

Ooo, uh, I don't know that I have one honestly? I'm fond of retrievers and labs, but I think that mutts are often the cutest. And while I'm particularly fond of black cats, I'm not so particular about breed.

Maine Coon Cat! They're beautiful. And majestic.

I like long-haired cats without flat faces best. Other than that, eh. Fancy breeding creates so many more problems.

Hotspur had his first checkup with our vet yesterday (he was seen by the vet the foster organization uses), and they said he might have some Maine Coon ancestry and should be checked for heart defects common to that breed. It's interesting because we wondered if our first cat, Chrestomanci, had some MC blood in the family tree because he was so big and luxuriously fluffy, he looked just like a scaled-down MC.

Belgian Malinois! It is like a GSD with less health problems and over breeding.

Dog Breed: Tibetan Mastiff. It's like if a lion and a bear had a baby. I also have a fondness for wolf-like dogs like Huskies and Malamutes, and dogs that people dub "vicious" like Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, and Dobermans (They are NOT inherently vicious by the way. It's how you train them.)

Cat Breed: Big, fluffy cats, like Maine Coons, Siberians, and Norwegian Forest Cats. I also like exotic, wild looking cats like Savannahs, Bengals, and Singapuras. I also have a soft spot for Sphinx cats. They look like gremlins, and it's adorable.

All of them, but mutts especially.

Dogs I don't have much opinion on, because I have not had much experience with them. I would probably favour a small breed though.

Cats - I like talkative breeds, but modern Siamese are ugly AF. I'd go for a classic Siamese with the rounder, less angular face though.
I have had a Tonkinese, so I will automatically like them.
In theory I like the idea of a Maine Coon because of how big they are, but on the other hand their face shape is not quite my thing, plus the work in taking care of a longhair might not be great for someone as lazy as me.
I love the idea of Munchkins and if I really was going to go to a breeder for a cat, that is the breed I'd go for.

But realistically, the best cats are moggies. Random breeding tends to result in healthier cats on a whole, while breeding programs can emphasize defects.
