His personality is very... I don't know, it comes across as very real and human, and his death feels like an actual sacrifice, more so than it would if he were, for lack of a better phrase, just a droid. Also, a number of his lines feel as if they've got genuine emotion behind them (e.g. "Jyn Erso, your behavior is continually unexpected").

Either way, K2 is awesome.

I didn't find it so much human as...free of programming, which is interesting. In any case, he's great.

That's a really great way to put it. I was struggling for a word to convey how he comes across to me and wound up going with "human" in lieu of anything else. I think your description fits a lot better!

Aw yeah, K2 was great. I ended up really liking most of the cast though, which was kinda surprising, haha.

I hear ya. I really liked everyone, which took me off guard. Every single character's death bothered me. Every single one, and that's not something I would have expected.

Hell, I didn't expect to like the movie itself all that much, truth be told. I thought I was gonna be pretty "meh" on it, but I wound up fiercely loving it and getting involved in SW fandom for the first time in my life, lol.

Well, he was the only character in that entire movie that I even liked, so I guess I indirectly agree with this secret?

I love all the SW droids (except Chopper), but K2 is my favorite.

Just pretend Chopper is always swearing.

He looks a bit like the Iron Giant, that what did it for me.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
ohhh I hadn't made that connection, but you're absolutely right!

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, we all know he is played by a Firefly actor.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
oh hi there, Whedon-basher.

Actually, though I vaguely knew it was Tudyk going in, that factoid dropped away and was unimportant because the character was so grin-inducing.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
My favorite is BB-8. <3

Have you watched Interstellar, OP? TARS is a bit like K2SO in some ways, if you're looking for more of that.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Same. I was legit upset when he died ;(

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
I was hoping he'd be a little meaner? HK-47 will always be my favorite Star Wars droid for his snarky disdain towards his meatbag overlords, and I was hoping that vibe might seep in. But I liked the deadpan nature of this guy too.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-06 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I loved him too! He was a very human droid.
