I dunno, this seems more like a relatively harmless sexual fantasy to me.

What bothers me with RPF is when it crosses the boundary between someone's persona in the media or public eye, and their real existence as a living, thinking human being. This doesn't ping that button to me. IDK maybe I'm just a creep the same as OP.

Just curious, because you say this secret doesn't ping the latter way (their real existence as a human being) to you. What would you consider crossing the boundary?

Personally, I know that YKINMK, but this secret does seem skeevy in that I don't think these people are playing fictional characters (presuming this is a reality show, not a scripted show), so they are more or less representing themselves. I don't personally like RPF, so that's my squick factor - when it's fiction about actual people, not the characters they play.

But I am curious as to where you see that boundary falling.

Well for one thing I think, even on a reality show, there's a distinction between the persona that you represent and who you really are. And this secret seems to be pretty safely within the confines of that structure.

I mean, I don't know, it's definitely a tricky boundary. But OP isn't theorizing that the person in question actually is doing this, nor are they saying that the person in question should do this. They're imagining a totally fictional scenario between two people, which they explicitly acknowledge is fictional and imaginary, and one that's based specifically on personas on the show, not on some kind of idea of who the people really are. Once you take away the kinkiness of OP's fic prompt, it feels like it's really only a step or two away from finding some random person on TV hot.
